Torri e fortezze a Cesenatico
In base ad approfonditi studi degli storici locali, a Cesenatico erano presenti, in tempi diversi, alcuni monumenti di carattere militare oggi scomparsi.
Tra i monumenti di difesa, il primo è la Rocca medievale, denominata anche "Malatestiana" risalente al 1302, voluta dalla città di Cesena per difendere il porto di Cesenatico.
La cosiddetta Torre malatestiana, era in realtà il mastio della Rocca di Cesenatico. La Rocca medievale, costruita nelle sue forme originarie nel 1302, ha subito diverse ricostruzioni e modifiche, fino alla deliberata distruzione ad opera delle truppe tedesche in ritirata nel 1944. I resti della torre e della Rocca sono oggi visibili insieme ad altri presso il Parco archeologico della Rocca.
La cinquecentesca Torre civica di Cesenatico si trovava all'angolo di Piazza Grande, oggi Piazza Pisacane. E' stata distrutta dal terremoto del 1875 e ne rimangono alcune tracce delle fondamenta. Ne fu costruita un'altra, collocata presso il vecchio Palazzo Comunale, dotata di orologio.
All'ingresso del molo di levante sorgeva la cinquecentesca Torre pretoria, residenza del podestà e costruzione di carattere strategico, ha avuto grande importanza nelle vicende storiche di Cesenatico. E' stata abbattuta dai bombardamenti della flotta inglese della Royal Navy nel 1809.
Il Fortino napoleonico ha avuto un'esistenza molto breve: fu costruito nel 1811 e demolito nel 1866.

Based in extensive studies by the local historians, there were some military monuments in the old times of Cesenatico, today vanished.
Among the defence monuments, the first is the Rocca medieval, (Medieval Fortress) named also "Malatestiana" and dated back from 1302, required by the city of Cesena to defend the port of Cesenatico.
The so-called (Malatestiana Tower) was in reality the look-out tower of the Fortress of Cesenatico. The medieval fortress, Torre Malatestiana built originally in 1302, went through several reconstructions and changes, up to the deliberate destruction by the retreating German troops in 1944. The remains of the tower and the fortress can today be seen at the Archaeological Park of the Fortress, together with other ruins.
The sixteenth-century Torre Civica (Town Tower) of Cesenatico was located in the corner of the Piazza Grande, today Piazza Pisacane. It was destroyed in the 1875 earthquake and just a few traces of the foundation have remained. Another one was built, placed near the old Palazzo Comunale (Municipal Palace), endowed with a clock.

The sixteenth-century Torre Pretoria (Pretoria Tower) rose at the entrance of the eastern pier, home of the mayor. A strategic construction, it had a lot of importance in the events of the historical Cesenatico. It was knocked down by the British Royal Navy bombardments in 1809.
The Fortino napoleonico (Napoleonic Fort) had a very short life: it was built in 1811 and demolished in 1866.
